One man was killed and four other men were injured in a gang-related shooting in Compton Friday, authorities said.

The fatal shooting occurred about 2:10 p.m. in the 600 block of North Long Beach Boulevard, near Rosecrans Avenue, Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Deputy Alejandra Parra said.

Arriving deputies located the victim at the scene who was shot in the upper body, Parra said.

The man, whose name was not released, was pronounced dead at the scene by the Compton Fire Department.

During their investigation, deputies learned that four additional men who were injured in the shooting arrived at hospitals, Parra said.

The men’s injuries were not life-threatening, according to Parra.

Details on the events that led to the shooting were not immediately released, but the sheriff’s department said it was gang related.

The shooter fled in a vehicle, Parra said.
