A hit-and-run driver who struck and killed a 43-year-old man on the Palmdale/Lancaster border last weekend remains at large, and sheriff’s investigators Thursday renewed their call for witnesses to come forward.

Deputies went to the 2300 block of West Avenue M at 10:10 p.m. Sunday, after the Palmdale Station received a call of a possible hit-and-run, the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department reported.

“When deputies arrived, they discovered a man suffering from trauma to his head,” according to a sheriff’s statement. Joshua Bermudez died at the scene.

Detectives believe Bermudez may have been walking westbound on Avenue M from the area of Sierra Highway when he was hit.

Anyone with information on the case was urged to call the sheriff’s Homicide Bureau at 323-890-5500. Tipsters can also call Crime Stoppers at 800-222-TIPS.
