A 41-year-old attempted murder suspect being held at the Intake Release Center in Santa Ana was believed to have committed suicide, the Orange County Sheriff’s Department announced Monday.
The inmate died at 7:45 p.m. Sunday, according to the sheriff’s department. His name was not released.
The man was booked by into the Orange County Jail on Aug. 18, 2020 on charges including attempted murder, assault with a deadly weapon and mayhem, according to the sheriff’s department.
“The Orange County Sheriff’s Department will continue to evaluate protocols and procedures to ensure the highest level of care is provided to those in custody,” the department said in a statement.
