A man police said had a knife was shot with less lethal ammunition Tuesday in Watts and underwent surgery.
Los Angeles Police Department officers responded to reports of an assault with a deadly weapon at about 6 p.m. in the 1600 block of East 109th Street, near Compton Avenue, the department reported.
When the officers arrived, they encountered the man who was armed with a knife and shot him with less lethal ammunition, police said.
The suspect was taken to a hospital to undergo surgery, police said.
One victim sustained minor injuries from the suspect. No officers were injured.
