Pomona police Saturday arrested a man suspected of operating one of two illegal gambling casinos.
Cantorbey Carrillo, 46, was arrested at 1:20 a.m. and booked into the Pomona Jail at 1:35 a.m., according to sheriff’s inmate records. He was issued a citation and released just after 3 a.m.
The Pomona Police Department’s Major Crimes Task Force, SWAT team and Covina police Special Response Team served a search warrant at two locations after authorities received citizen complaints and anonymous tips about suspicious activity, Pomona police officials said.
The warrants were served at a house at 1420 W. Grand Ave. and 877 E. Phillips Blvd., police said.
A makeshift tent with seven slot-style machines was found at the Grand Avenue address along with an undisclosed amount of cash and firearm, police said. The homeowner was not located.
Officers found 25 machines, cash and a bar in a converted garage on Phillips Boulevard, police said. Carrillo was arrested there for suspicion of operating an illegal gambling casino.
Police asked anyone with information about illegal gambling casinos to call 909-620-2085 or Crime Stoppers at 800-222-TIPS (8477).
