A man was shot and killed in Monrovia and the suspect was on the loose Tuesday morning.

Monrovia police officers responded about 5:30 p.m. to a shots fired call in the 100 block of Los Angeles Avenue, where they found a man with several gunshot wounds to his upper and lower body, according to Deputy Tracy Koerner of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, which was assisting Monrovia police with the investigation.

The victim was pronounced dead at the scene, Koerner said.

A motive for the shooting and suspect information were not immediately available.

The name of the victim was not disclosed.
