A suspect who allegedly assaulted another man with a machete in San Gabriel earlier this month has been arrested, police said Wednesday.
Officers responded to the 400 block of South San Gabriel Boulevard at about 8 p.m. on March 18 on reports of an assault earlier that evening, according to the San Gabriel Police Department. Officers then reported to a local hospital, where they found the 23-year-old male victim being treated for serious injuries to his head and upper body.
An investigation revealed that the victim was attacked with a machete following a dispute over money, police said.
Police identified the suspect as 22-year-old Yaunfeng Kuang of San Gabriel and served a search warrant at his home. Kuang was arrested on March 19 on suspicion of attempted homicide, possession of a controlled substance and possession of a controlled substance for sale.
He is being held on $2.05 million bail.
