A 20-year-old man was arrested Friday in connection with a late-night shooting in Anaheim that left a 30-year-old man dead.

Officers responded about 11:30 p.m. Thursday to the 1700 block of West Glenoaks Avenue, west of Euclid Street, where they found Jefferson Anthony Davis, 30, suffering from at least one gunshot wound, according to Sgt. Shane Carringer of the Anaheim Police Department.

Officers performed CPR on Davis until paramedics arrived and took him to a hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Investigators identified Anaheim resident Richard Flores as a person of interest in the shooting, Carringer said. Flores was located at about 6 a.m. Friday morning traveling in a vehicle in Fullerton, but he fled when authorities attempted to make contact with him.

Anaheim police SWAT units conducted an extensive search of the area and located Flores at about 10 a.m. in the 600 block of South Brookhurst Road, between Orangethorpe Avenue and Valencia Drive, Carringer said.

Flores was taken into custody without further incident. The resulting investigation positively identified him as the suspect in the shooting.

Flores was booked into the Anaheim Detention Facility for murder and his bail was set at $1 million.

Detectives said they do not believe the shooting was gang-related, and have declined to discuss details possible motives or the evidence that led to the identification of Flores as the suspect, Carringer said.

Anyone with information about the shooting was asked to call Orange County Crime Stoppers at 855-847-6227.
