A man who died when he drove his Lexus against traffic and crashed head-on with another vehicle in Pomona was publicly identified Saturday.
Jerry Cole Jr., 53, was a San Dimas resident, according to coroner’s Lt. David Smith. An autopsy was pending.
Witnesses at the scene told Pomona Police Department officers a black Lexus westbound in the eastbound lanes of Arrow Highway collided head-on with an eastbound vehicle west of Garey Avenue about 3:35 p.m. Friday, police said.
The Lexus driver now identified as Cole was pronounced dead at the scene by Los Angeles County paramedics, police said. The driver of the other vehicle suffered moderate injuries and was taken to a hospital.
It was not known why Cole drove into oncoming traffic, police said.
