A 25-year-old man was charged Friday with attempting to kill a 44-year-old man in Santa Ana in February.
Alan Herbey Cadena-Parra was accused of stabbing the victim about 6:25 p.m. Feb. 25 in the 200 block of North Clara Street in Santa Ana, according to Santa Ana Police Department Cpl. Anthony Bertagna.
Witnesses told police they saw two men running after the victim and summoned plainclothes detectives nearby for help, Bertagna said. The detectives radioed for uniformed officers, who were able to track down Cadena-Parra, Bertagna said.
The motive for the attack was not known.
Cadena-Parra was charged with single counts each of attempted murder and conspiracy. He also faces sentencing enhancements for attempted premeditated murder, personal use of a deadly weapon and inflicting great bodily injury on the victim.
Cadena-Parra is scheduled to be arraigned May 12.
