A carjacking suspect was arrested hours after he allegedly pulled a gun on a driver and fled in the victim’s vehicle, Banning police said Saturday.

At about 9:50 a.m. Friday, a man approached a vehicle in the 400 block of East Nicolet Street, pointed a firearm at the driver and demanded that the driver exit the vehicle, according to the Banning Police Department.

The driver got out and the suspect drove away, police said.

Officers searched the area for the suspect and the vehicle but came up empty.

About two and a half hours later, an officer spotted the stolen vehicle in the 1700 block of West Ramsey Street and pulled it over.

Police arrested the driver, Ruby White Marin of Banning, who was booked into the Larry D. Smith Correctional Center on suspicion of carjacking and violating his parole.

He remained behind bars without bail.
