A driver was arrested Saturday morning at a DUI/Driver’s License checkpoint in Pomona.

The checkpoint was conducted between 9 p.m. Friday and 3 a.m. Saturday at Towne Avenue and Towne Center Drive, according to the Pomona Police Department.

In addition to the DUI arrest, 16 drivers were cited for driving while unlicensed or with a suspended or revoked license and three vehicles were towed, the department said.

The cost of a DUI arrest and conviction is about $13,500 and includes fines, fees, DUI classes, license suspension and other expenses, not to mention jail time, police said.

In 2018, Pomona police investigated 127 DUI crashes that injured 49 people.
