A man speeding away from authorities in a white pickup truck as well as occupants in a van were injured during a two-vehicle crash in Santa Ana, police said Sunday.
The unknown number of van occupants were rushed to an area hospital with major injuries and the suspect in the pickup truck was arrested at the crash scene on suspicion of evading and felony drunk driving, the Santa Ana Police Department reported.
Deputies and officers from the Orange Police Department were in pursuit of the suspect in the 2300 block of North Tustin Avenue, when the crash with the van occurred a little before 8:25 p.m. Saturday.
The pickup was going southbound on Tustin Avenue, approaching Santa Clara Avenue, as the van was going west on Santa Ana Avenue, at Tustin Avenue.
“As the van proceeded into the intersection on a green traffic signal, it was struck by the truck,” police said.
Authorities had pursued the suspect because of an undisclosed code violation.
The Santa Ana Police Department’s Collision Investigations Unit urged anyone with information regarding the crash to call them at 714-245-8216.
