Long Beach police sought public help Monday to find a hit-and-run motorist responsible for fatally injuring a pedestrian.

The 52-year-old Long Beach man died at the scene of the hit-and-run, which occurred about 5:25 p.m. Sunday on the service road that accesses the Los Angeles River north of Willow Street, according to the Long Beach Police Department. Information on his identity was not immediately released.

“The preliminary investigation revealed the victim sustained injuries to his upper and lower torso that were consistent with being struck by a vehicle,” according to a police statement.

No vehicle or motorist description was available, according to police, who asked anyone with information on the case to call detectives at 562-570-7355, or Crime Stoppers at 800-222-TIPS.
