A 64-year-old probationer was charged Tuesday with a racially motivated attack on a 7-Eleven convenience store owner in Newport Beach.
Danny Martin Loros was charged with assault with a deadly weapon and violation of civil rights with violent injury, both felonies, and faces a sentencing enhancement for a hate crime, according to court records.
While making racial slurs and comments “denigrating” to immigrants, Loros is accused of hurling a liquor bottle at the victim’s stomach on Friday, according to the Orange County District Attorney’s Office.
Loros was released from jail on April 29 after serving time on a probation violation in a misdemeanor criminal threats case, according to jail and court records. In that case he pleaded guilty Feb. 11.
Loros also pleaded guilty June 16, 2020 to a misdemeanor count of battery and was placed on three years of probation, according to court records.
Loros also faces another case of misdemeanor battery for an incident on March 31, according to court records.
