Two barbers who were injured in a stabbing attack at the Riverside shop where they worked have been released from the hospital, officials said Sunday.
The assailant, who authorities said was shot to death by one of the barbers, was identified as Joseph Jimenez, 33, of Riverside, according to the Riverside County coroner’s office.
The attack occurred at about 6:40 p.m. Friday at Carlos Barber Shop at 3470 La Sierra Ave., said Officer Ryan Railsback, a spokesman for the Riverside Police Department.
He said Jimenez entered the shop and began an altercation before stabbing a male barber.
When a second male barber intervened, he was stabbed as well before retrieving a handgun and shooting Jimenez, according to Railsback.
Jimenez was taken to Riverside Community Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 7:27 p.m., the coroner’s office said.
The two barbers were also treated at a hospital before being released.
There was no word on the motive for the attack.
