A section of Rodeo Drive was shut down for at least 90 minutes Saturday during a demonstration for a YouTube influencer to hype an upcoming boxing match.
Beverly Hills police announced at 4:50 p.m. that Rodeo was shut down between Wilshire and Santa Monica boulevards, urging motorists to avoid the area, and an advisory at 6:16 p.m. declared the roadway reopened.
Police Sgt. S. Shen told City News Service the roadway was closed for “a few hours” so that a YouTube influencer could promote an exhibition boxing match. He did not know the name of the influencer, but said the event drew a crowd of 300 to 500 people.
The event was staged eight days before YouTube influencer Logan Paul was scheduled to fight boxing champion Floyd Mayweather Jr. at the Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens, Florida.
The 44-year-old Mayweather is 5 feet 8 inches tall and undefeated in 50 matches, winning 37 by knockout. Paul is 26 years old, 6 feet, 2 inches tall, and lost his only match.
