Three people were arrested for intoxicated driving during a driver’s license and sobriety checkpoint in Rancho Mirage, sheriff’s officials said Saturday.
The Riverside County Sheriff’s Department conducted the checkpoint between 7:00 p.m. Friday and 3:00 a.m. Saturday on Ramon Road, west of Los Alamos Road.
Of the 859 drivers screened, three were arrested for inebriated driving and sixteen were cited for either driving unlicensed or with a suspended license, according to Deputy Frank Avila.
In addition, one person with a warrant for possession of methamphetamine was cited and released, Avila said.
The checkpoint was funded by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
