A teacher at a Riverside public elementary school accused of sexually assaulting a former student in 2015 was arrested, police said Sunday.
Mukesh Kisun, 56, of Moreno Valley was arrested on Thursday and booked into the Robert Presley Detention Center on suspicion of committing lewd acts upon a child under the age of 14.
Kisun was released the same day after posting $50,000 bail, according to jail records.

The arrest came after a former female student recently told a family member that she was sexually abused in fifth grade by her teacher while attending Rosemary Kennedy Elementary School in 2015, Riverside Police Department spokesman Officer Ryan Railsback said.
The family member then reported the allegation to a Riverside police school resource officer assigned to the Alvord Unified School District, Railsback said.
“Presently, regular classes for the district have concluded for the summer break,” Alvord Unified Superintendent Allan Mucerino said in a statement. “Mr. Kisun has not been assigned to a summer school position and the district will continue to monitor the situation. If necessary, the district will take appropriate personnel action, which will be confidential under the law.”
