An accused gang killer will be arraigned July 7 in Long Beach for the murder of one victim and attempted murder of another during an early morning deadly confrontation.

Vai Ho-Ching of Long Beach was charged Monday with one count each of murder, attempted murder and possession of a firearm by a felon, according to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office.

Ho-Ching was arrested last Thursday afternoon near his home and has remained behind bars since then.

“Detectives are actively investigating and believe there may be additional suspects,” police said in a statement released late last week. “Detectives will continue to evaluate evidence and seek out additional witnesses until everyone who played a role in the murder has been arrested.”

The shooting occurred about 1:30 a.m. April 2 near the 1900 block of Canal Avenue, where officers were sent on a report of shots fired. The officers found two men suffering from gunshot wounds to their upper bodies, police said.

Daniel Jacinto, 40, of Long Beach, was pronounced dead at the scene, and the other man, whose name was not released, was taken to a hospital in critical but stable condition, police said.

Investigators said they believed the victims and the suspect knew each other and the shooting stemmed from a dispute between them.
