A vehicle crashed into a utility pole in Torrance early Sunday causing power lines to fall and shutting down Crenshaw Boulevard in the area.

The crash was reported at 1:07 a.m. on Crenshaw Boulevard at Clarellen Street, said Torrance police Lt. M. Chance.

The vehicle driver escaped with minor injuries, Chance said.

The impact caused live power lines to fall to the ground so northbound and southbound lanes of Crenshaw Boulevard were shut down around Pacific Coast Highway while Edison crews made repairs, he said.

They arrived at the scene around 2:30 a.m., Chance said.

Police received reports of power outages in the area, he said.
