A 25-year-old man was arrested Wednesday for allegedly shooting another man’s car in Garden Grove more than four months ago.

The victim was driving through a parking lot of a restaurant located in the 12000 block of Brookhurst Street, near Chapman Avenue, at about 8:45 p.m. on Feb. 13 when he passed Selaupasene Launiuvao, who was walking with his family in the area, and pulled into a parking space, according to Garden Grove Police Department Sgt. Charlie Loffler.

Launiuvao allegedly ran up to the parked vehicle and fired into it several times with a handgun before fleeing the scene.

The driver was not injured in the shooting and a possible motive was not provided.

Investigators located Launiuvao in Anaheim on Wednesday and took him into custody, Loffler said.

Launiuvao was in possession of a loaded gun at the time of his arrest, and police located “evidence related to the shooting” in his vehicle parked at his home in Bellflower.

Launiuvao also “admitted to his involvement” in the shooting during his arrest interview, according to Loffler.
