A 33-year-old Santa Ana man has admitted to the possession of child pornography and he was immediately sentenced to six months in jail.
Police received a tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children about hundreds of videos and images of “child abuse and sexual material” had been “uploaded to different online accounts,” police said.
That led police to Joseph Adam Martinez, who was “storing and trading the uploaded images and videos with other users across several online platforms,” police said.
Detectives seized multiple electronic devices from Martinez’s home, police said.
Martinez pleaded guilty Friday to one count each of possession of child pornography, possessing images of people 18 years or older engaged in sexual conduct brought into the state and the sale or distribution of obscene matter with subjects under 18 engaging in sex, all felonies, according to court records.
Martinez, who has been in custody since April 13, was also placed on two years of formal probation.
