A 17-year-old girl suspected of engaging in prostitution was taken into protective custody by Pomona police and later returned to her family, authorities said Saturday.
The girl was observed by the Pomona Police Department’s Sexual Exploitation and Trafficking team at around 11 a.m. Friday in the Holt Corridor near East End Avenue and Holt Avenue.
She allegedly told police she was 17 and working as a prostitute.
Police then took the girl into protective custody. She was later turned over to the Los Angeles County Department of Children and family Services, which reunited the girl with her family, police said.
