A 47-year-old man accused of causing a hit-and-crash in Indio that left two people severely injured was out of custody Thursday on $75,000 bail.
Julio Infante of Indio was arrested Tuesday on suspicion of felony hit-and-run and posted bond the following day, jail records show.
Infante was allegedly behind the wheel of a Dodge Ram pickup when it struck two people who were outside their vehicle changing a flat tire on Monroe Street north of Avenue 51 Friday about 11:50 a.m., according to the Indio Police Department.
Both victims were transported to Desert Regional Medical Center in Palm Springs in critical condition. An update on their condition was not immediately available.
Infante allegedly fled the scene, and was later arrested in Indian Wells.
He had not been charged by the Riverside County District Attorney’s Office as of midday Thursday. Jail records show he is scheduled to appear at the Larson Justice Center in Indio on Nov. 17.
His criminal history, if any, was not immediately available.
