A man was shot and killed in Gardena Friday.

Gardena Police Department officers responded at about 10:40 a.m. to a house in the 16900 block of South New Hampshire Avenue, near Vermont Avenue and the Artesia (91) Freeway, on reports of multiple gunshots that were heard in the area, according to the department’s Lt. Mike Sargent.

Arriving officers found the man suffering from at least one gunshot wound outside of the house.

Paramedics pronounced the man dead at the scene. His name was withheld pending notification of his next of kin.

It was not immediately clear what led up to the shooting and no suspect description was provided.
