A 65-year-old probationer has pleaded guilty and been sentenced to six months in jail for a racially motivated attack on a 7-Eleven store owner in Newport Beach, according to court records obtained Monday.
While making racial slurs and comments “denigrating” to immigrants, Danny Martin Loros threw a liquor bottle at the victim’s stomach on May 7, according to the Orange County District Attorney’s Office.
Loros pleaded guilty Friday to a misdemeanor count of assault with a deadly weapon and a felony count of violation of civil rights with violent injury.
As part of the plea deal, the assault count was reduced from felony to misdemeanor and a sentencing enhancement for a hate crime was dropped, according to court records.
Loros was released from jail on April 29 after serving time on a probation violation in a misdemeanor criminal threats case, according to jail and court records. In that case he pleaded guilty Feb. 11.
Loros also pleaded guilty June 16, 2020 to a misdemeanor count of battery and was placed on three years of probation, according to court records.
