A woman suspected of hit-and-run was taken into custody Tuesday in the Granada Hills area after leading police on a short pursuit.
Police attempted to stop the woman, who was driving an extensively damaged dark-colored sedan that was packed with items and her pit bull, on Haskell Avenue near the Ventura (101) Freeway in the Sherman Oaks area at about 4:30 p.m.
The woman failed to yield and led officers onto the San Diego (405) Freeway, where her dog could be seen leaning out of the sedan’s driver’s side window.
The woman stopped her car on the freeway’s Devonshire Street off-ramp at about 4:40 p.m. and quickly surrendered to police. Animal control was called to the scene to recover her pit bull.
