Comedian Kathy Griffin tweeted Wednesday that the surgery she underwent to have half her left lung removed “was a little more than I had anticipated.”
“Tonight will be my first night without narcotic pain killers,” Griffin tweeted. “Hello Tylenol, my new best friend!”
Griffin tweeted that this is her first time in a hospital since June 2020 when she overdosed on prescription medication in a suicide attempt.
“With over a year clean and drug free, I now know I can do this and anything I want without those devil pills,” Griffin tweeted. “Y’know what? I fear drugs and addiction more than I fear cancer. So, I think I’ll be ok.”
The 60-year-old Griffin announced Monday that she has been diagnosed with lung cancer despite never smoking.
In 2017, Griffin shave her head as a show of solidarity with her sister, who was undergoing chemotherapy. Her sister died that September. Griffin also lost her brother Gary to cancer in 2014.
