Three people were killed and at least two others were injured in a fiery multi-vehicle collision in Burbank in which one car was “partially broken in half” — and which police were investigating as a possible hit and run.

Police and firefighters responded at 11:50 p.m. Tuesday to North Glenoaks Boulevard and Andover Drive, near the Burbank Tennis Center, where two people had been ejected from one vehicle and one person was trapped in a vehicle that was on fire, said a Burbank Police Department spokesman.

One car was “partially broken in half,” the spokesman said.

Three people were pronounced dead at the scene, the spokesman said, and at least two people were taken to a trauma center.

The conditions of the hospitalized people were not immediately known.

The spokesman said at least three vehicles were involved. He did not speculate as to the speed at which any of the vehicles was traveling.

“We’re not entirely sure if it was a hit and run,” the spokesman told City News Service.

Several parked vehicles were also struck, he said.

Glenoaks Boulevard was expected to be closed for several hours due to the collision, the spokesman said.
