The last of four individuals accused of gunning down a 39-year-old man during an attempted robbery in a Riverside park was apprehended, police said Thursday.
The 16-year-old Riverside boy, whose identity was not disclosed, was arrested and booked into Riverside Juvenile Hall Tuesday on suspicion of murder, robbery and gang activity.
The teen, along with two 15-year-old Riverside boys and 18-year-old Joseph Lee Auciello of Riverside, allegedly attacked Ubaldo Andrade of Riverside on the night of June 8.
The other boys and Auciello were arrested soon after the killing and are charged with murder, robbery and gang activity.
According to Riverside police Officer Javier Cabrera, the four allegedly confronted Andrade in Bryant Park on Philbin Avenue, demanding that he hand over his money and other belongings.
However, the robbery went awry, and one of the 15-year-old boys allegedly opened fire with a handgun, critically wounding the victim, Cabrera said.
Andrade died during surgery later that night, according to the police spokesman.
He said detectives quickly identified three of the four alleged assailants and took them into custody without incident by the next morning.
It was unclear why the fourth boy eluded capture for over two months.
No background details were available regarding the juveniles. However, court records show Auciello has a separate felony assault case pending in Riverside County Superior Court.
The defendant, who is being held on $1 million bail at the Robert Presley Jail in Riverside, is slated to appear for a preliminary hearing on Sept. 7 at the Riverside Hall of Justice.
Court dates for the juveniles were not available.
