A Pomona man is in custody Saturday on felony charges of being in possession of unregistered firearms, ammunition and a probation violation, authorities said.
Officers from the Pomona Police Department’s Major Crimes Task Force responded at 11:26 p.m. Friday to a call for service regarding a fight between gang members at the Super Inn, 975 W. Holt Ave., according to the Pomona Police Department.
Police learned that a known probationer, Julio Perez, 36, was staying at the motel and during a compliance check of his room they found two unregistered handguns outside the room just below the rear window, officers said.
Perez was booked at the Pomona City Jail for weapons violations and his probation warrant.
