Orange County sheriff’s investigators Friday tracked down a missing 15-year-old Mission Viejo girl with cerebral palsy at a Los Angeles motel with a man suspected of contacting her online.
Phoebe Carreon, who was last seen Thursday at Mission Viejo High School, had been “conversing online through an app called Discord with a 22-year-old man from Texas,” said Carrie Braun of the Orange County Sheriff’s Department.
Investigators suspect Nathan Williams “traveled here to meet her and she was picked up yesterday in a rideshare vehicle,” Braun said.
Williams, who is from Houston, was with the teen at the motel and was taken into custody, she said.
The teen was taken back to Orange County to discuss what happened with investigators and will be returned back to her family, she said.
Sheriff’s investigators, with help from the FBI, were able to figure out where the two were located, she said.
