Anaheim police Monday removed a suspicious device that was found attached to a commercial van parked at the police station.
The man who owned the van reported to police that he found the device attached to the vehicle’s fuel cap, drove it to the Anaheim Police Department located at 425 S. Harbor Blvd. and parked it in the parking lot at about 4:40 p.m., according the department’s Sgt. Shane Carringer.
The man alerted an Anaheim police officer and showed him the device still attached to the vehicle. The officer agreed the device appeared suspicious, and the area was closed off as a bomb squad was called to remove it from the van.
The device was safely removed and the area was reopened at about 6:30 p.m., Carringer said.
The nature of the device was not immediately known.
