A Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department deputy was shot Monday evening in Lynwood.
Details surrounding the shooting were not immediately available, but the deputy was grazed by gunfire and the suspect fled the scene, according to a department spokesperson.
The deputy was taken to a hospital and was said to be alert and conscious, according to the department.
The shooting was reported at about 7:15 p.m. after units were called to the area of Lorraine Street and 112th Street on reports of a robbery
No other deputies were injured in the shooting. It was not immediately known if the suspect was struck by gunfire.
The LASD established a perimeter in the area and were searching for the suspect as of about 8:20 p.m.
