Three men described as being part of a criminal organization with ties to recent burglaries and thefts throughout Southern California were arrested in Huntington Beach, police announced Friday.
Huntington Beach Police Department detectives on Thursday received a tip from a local business of a potential theft in advance and established surveillance at the business located near Edinger Avenue and Fortuna Lane, according to the department’s Jennifer Carey.
Officers saw a man stealing “thousands of dollars in cash and valuables” from a car in the business’s parking lot at about 2:30 p.m., but he jumped into a waiting car and fled the scene when officers attempted to make contact with him.
The car crashed a short distance away and three occupants fled on foot, Carey said. They were quickly apprehended by officers arrested on charges including grand theft and resisting and obstructing an officer.
The men were later identified as 22-year-old Aaron Duran of Las Vegas, 22-year-old Richard Hamilton of Alameda and 26-year-old Kendrick West of Vallejo.
