A person described by sheriff’s deputies as a documented gang member was behind bars Wednesday on suspicion of possessing a concealed firearm.
Deputies from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department’s Norwalk Station received a call about 7 p.m. Tuesday of an assault with a deadly weapon near the intersection of Imperial Highway and Pioneer Boulevard, according to a spokesman at the Norwalk Station.
While investigating the call, deputies came in contact with the suspect discovered the handgun, according to the sheriff’s department.
No further details were available, and the case remains under investigation.
