Authorities Thursday were seeking two men who robbed customers at gunpoint in the sidewalk dining area of Le Crème Cafe in the Fairfax District this week.
The crime occurred about 4:55 p.m. Tuesday in the 7300 block of Melrose Avenue, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.
No injuries were reported, according to the LAPD.
Security video shows the suspects in hoodies, one armed with a gun, as they approached the diners and took various items from them, including a purse, a watch and a cell phone. No suspect descriptions were available.
“I’ve been here for nine years,” the restaurant owner, identified as Stoli, told KTLA5. “For the last, let’s say, half a year, I never saw so much crime on this street. A lot of visitors and tourists (are) gonna stop coming here. When they stop coming here, more and more merchants and business owners … they’re gonna go to somewhere safer, and this street’s gonna die.”
Anyone with information on the case was urged to call 877-LAPD-247.
