Riverside firefighters and police officers Saturday will display their gear, offer tips on what to do in case of an emergency and provide a host of demonstrations as part of National Preparedness Month.
The annual “Public Safety Preparedness Expo” is scheduled from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the JCPenney parking lot adjacent to the Galleria at Tyler Mall.
This year’s event is themed “Prepare to Protect” and will emphasize how to be self-reliant in the event of a disaster.
“The wildfires in California and extreme weather conditions throughout the country show the importance of preparing now for a disaster that may impact your life,” Riverside Fire Department Chief Michael Moore said.
According to expo organizers, the event will include CPR training, displays of ladder trucks and police patrol vehicles, information on how to form neighborhood watch groups, as well as details on how to join community emergency response teams.
