A 25-year-old homeless man suspected of firing shots that damaged an occupied restaurant in Canoga Park Thursday was arrested.
Sebastiano Cummings-Cruz, a transient who frequents the Canoga Park area, allegedly entered the Shake Shack in the 6600 block of Topanga Canyon Boulevard, near Vanowen Street, at about noon and “caused a disturbance,” according to the Los Angeles Police Department.
Cummings-Cruz was asked to leave the restaurant and once he did, he allegedly turned around and fired numerous shots through the storefront windows, causing them to shatter. He then fled the scene on foot.
About 20 people, including a 10-year-old, were inside the restaurant at the time of the shooting, though no one was injured, police said.
LAPD officers responded to the scene and arrested Cummings-Cruz for suspicion of attempted murder a short time later.
