A stabbing suspect was taken into custody Sunday after an hourslong standoff in Rancho Santa Margarita.
The drama began with a 911 call around 1:45 p.m. in the area of Alma Aldea between Calle de Vida and Bienvenidos, according to the Orange County Sheriff’s Department.
A person was stabbed, then taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, CBS2 reported. The unidentified suspect went into a nearby apartment occupied by a man, woman and child, the station reported.
Deputies continued to try to make contact with the man and eventually broke a window and threw a cell phone into the apartment, the station reported.
The department tweeted around 8 p.m. that the situation was peacefully resolved and law enforcement was leaving the scene.
The suspect was arrested for outstanding warrants and assault with a deadly weapon, the department reported. His name was not immediately released.
