A man was taken into custody in Rosemead after leading sheriff’s deputies on a pursuit and hiding in a hotel for about two hours Thursday evening.

The pursuit began at about 5:25 p.m. in Montebello, CBS2 reported. The car had been reported as stolen and there was a woman in the passenger seat, according to CBS2.

The man led police on a short pursuit to the Pomona (60) Freeway near San Gabriel Boulevard in Rosemead, where he and the woman exited the car out onto the roadway. The passenger was taken into custody shortly afterward

The man walked to several vehicles apparently attempting to gain entry before opening the door to a black sedan and getting into the car. The woman driving the sedan drove the man a short distance before he exited and ran into a Fairfield Inn & Suites near the Montebello Town Center.

Sheriff’s deputies searched for the man and took him into custody about 7:30 p.m., said Deputy Miguel Meza of the Sheriff’s Information Bureau. CBS2 reported the man would be considered for carjacking charges for entering the black sedan on the Pomona Freeway, though the Sheriff’s Information Bureau could not confirm the report.

No further details were released.
