A 55-year-old man on a scooter was critically injured in a hit-and-run in South Los Angeles Thursday and police are seeking the red-haired woman driving a Honda Civic that struck the scooter.
The man was riding a scooter northbound on Hooper Avenue approaching East 48th Place just before 10:40 a.m. when he was struck by a gray Honda Civic that “negotiated an unsafe left turn” onto East 48th Place, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.
The man was knocked off his scooter onto the street. The Honda driver stopped momentarily before fleeing the scene.
Paramedics were called to the scene and took the man to a hospital in critical condition, police said.
The Honda Civic was described as a 2012 to 2015 model with tinted windows, chrome tires, a rear spoiler and no front license plate. Police said the car may possess damage to its rear bumper or the bumper may be missing entirely.
