A 26-year-old motorcyclist was fatally injured when he slammed into a tree adjacent to a street in east Riverside, authorities said Friday.
The crash occurred at about 10:40 p.m. Thursday near the intersection of Eucalyptus and University avenues, according to the Riverside Police Department.
Sgt. Ryan Taack said the victim, identified only as a Moreno Valley man, was riding his 2020 Yamaha R7 eastbound on University when he “failed to negotiate a curve in the roadway.”
“The motorcycle struck a tree along the south side of the road, ejecting the rider,” Taack said.
Paramedics reached the location within a few minutes and rendered emergency aid, and the rider was taken to Riverside Community Hospital, where he died less than an hour later, according to the sergeant.
“At this time, it is unknown whether drugs or alcohol were a contributing factor,” he said.
Anyone with information about the accident was asked to contact the police Traffic Bureau at 951-826-8720.
