Two suspects are in custody Monday after allegedly stealing catalytic converters and other auto parts in Desert Center.

Robert Pruitte, 50, of Salton City and Jesse Jasso, 56, of Indio were arrested Sunday after allegedly committing the thefts in the 44000 block of Ragsdale Road.

The Riverside County Sheriff’s Department received a report that day from the property owners at the location who said they saw several male suspects stealing vehicle parts, according to Sgt. Mike McTigue.

The suspects also allegedly damaged a number of vehicles on the property before fleeing westbound on Interstate 10, according to investigators.

Deputies intercepted the suspects as they took the I-10 exit on Cottonwood Springs Road.

Pruitte and Jasso were booked into Blythe Jail on suspicion of grand theft, vandalism and conspiracy. They were each being held on $10,000 bail.

Jail records indicate they are scheduled to make their initial court appearance at the Larson Justice Center on Wednesday.
