A 22-year-old motorist was fatally injured Friday when his sedan skidded off a street in south Riverside and slammed into a tree.
The deadly crash occurred about 2:25 a.m. on Trautwein Road, near Grove Community Drive, according to the Riverside Police Department.
Sgt. Ryan Wilson said that the victim, identified only as a Riverside man, was headed south on Trautwein when he apparently lost control of his Nissan compact, veered off the roadway and hit the tree.
The young man was taken to Riverside Community Hospital, where he died a short time later, according to the sergeant.
The investigation is ongoing, and anyone with information was asked to call the police department’s Traffic Bureau at 951-826-8723.
