Police Tuesday announced an arrest in connection with a man who was shot in the arm last week in Burbank.

The suspect was identified as Richard Dick V, 37, of Burbank, said Sgt. Emil Brimway of the Burbank Police Department. Dick was on parole for an assault with a deadly weapon conviction from 2017.

Officers sent to the area of Federic Street and Chandler Boulevard at about 10 p.m. Thursday, regarding several 911 calls of possible gunshots, came upon a man suffering from a gunshot wound to his arm, Brimway said.

Paramedics rushed the shooting victim to a hospital, where he underwent emergency surgery and remains in stable condition, he said.

Dick was originally thought to be hiding in a nearby residence, where he has been known to stay with family. Police established a perimeter, checked the home out, but could not located him, police said.

Detectives later located Dick at a residence in Burbank and arrested him without incident on suspicion of attempted murder. He was being held without bail due to being on parole for the 2017 conviction, Brimway said.

Police said the 9mm semiautomatic handgun allegedly used during Thursday’s shooting is still outstanding.

Burbank police urged anyone with information regarding the shooting to call them at 818-238-3210.
