Authorities Monday were looking for a man who was involved in a confrontation with San Fernando police that led to a shots-fired incident.

The incident occurred about 3:40 a.m. in the 13300 block of Little Tujunga Canyon Road, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, which was assisting San Fernando police in the investigation.

“The … suspect was involved in a shooting with an officer, (and) he then fled into the terrain nearby,” a sheriff’s statement said. “The officer was not injured in the incident.”

It was unclear if the man, in his 30s, was injured, the sheriff’s department reported.

Sheriff’s Special Enforcement Bureau personnel were assisting in the search for the suspect. Anyone with information on the case was urged to call the Sheriff’s Homicide Bureau at 323-890-5500.
