A confrontation and shooting involving a sheriff deputy at a gas station in Commerce Friday left one suspect dead, another suspect wounded and a deputy hospitalized for treatment of facial injuries, authorities said.
The shooting occurred about 4 a.m. in the 5700 block of Whittier Boulevard, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.
According to a preliminary report from the sheriff’s department, the shooting involved a male adult suspect and a female adult suspect.
One suspect was hit by gunfire and was taken to a hospital in unknown condition, and another suspect died, but the cause of that person’s death was unknown, the sheriff’s department reported. That person’s name was not immediately available for release.
The deputy suffered facial injuries and was taken to a hospital for treatment, the sheriff’s department reported. Other details were not released by the sheriff’s department.
According to Fox11, the gas station attendant called 911 and reported that a man had set a fire at one of the pumps.
A male adult suspect attacked an arriving deputy, a female adult suspect stabbed the deputy in the face, and the deputy shot both of them, Fox11 reported. The woman died at the scene, and the man was taken to a hospital in unknown condition, Fox11 reported.
