One man was behind bars Wednesday for allegedly brandishing a firearm, while another man was arrested for allegedly possessing methamphetamine.
Juan Gutierrez, 27, and Javier Lopez Villanueva, 47 — both from Indio — were arrested Tuesday when Riverside County sheriff’s deputies were investigating an incident related to Gutierrez allegedly brandishing a firearm in the 79000 block of Highway 111 in La Quinta on Nov. 11, a violation of his parole.
According to Sgt. George Acevedo, deputies first arrested Gutierrez in relation to the gun brandishing incident and then served a search warrant at his residence located in the 5000 block of Park Street, in Indio the same day.
While searching the residence, authorities arrested Villanueva for allegedly possessing over two thirds of a pound of methamphetamine.
Both were booked into the John Benoit Detention Center in Indio, but Villanueva later made bail. He is scheduled to make his first court appearance on Jan. 28.
Gutierrez is being held without bail and jail records did not indicate when he will make his first court appearance.
Gutierrez’s previous criminal history was not immediately available.
